Living Purpose “LP” Entries ~ Doing Too Much, To Gain What???

Think about this: Have you ever known people to do “extra”? Every time you see them, there are going ‘to and fro’ worse than the devil in the book of Job? Sometimes you just want to tell them, (in Derrick Cook’s words… well the PG version lol) “GET SOMEWHERE AND SIT DOWN!!!” Now all have heard that if we sit idle then we are missing out on opportunities. To a degree that is very true, but what if you don’t sit still long enough to really hear from the Lord?

It’s something that I never really thought about until I moved to Washington, DC. DC is a “hustle and bustle” area and so if you don’t hit the ground running, you will be left behind. We have jobs, families, responsibilities to various groups and organizations, church, and so forth. But even with doing this, that, and third… do you take time out to hear from God? Do we ask the Lord, “Lord, is this assignment apart of the work that you want me to be apart of?”

John 5:19-20 says, Jesus gave them this answer: "I tell you the truth, the Son can do nothing by himself; he can do only what he sees his Father doing, because whatever the Father does the Son also does. For the Father loves the Son and shows him all he does. Yes, to your amazement he will show him even greater things than these.

Many of us have full plates and find it challenging to incorporate God into our daily routine. Have we gotten so arrogant to the point that we get up each on our own? That we have these careers, cars, houses, investments and etc, by our own means? It’s amazing, because many folks think that way without saying it flat out. But let the car breakdown, the house go up in flames, or lose the job; then we falling on our knees doing all the HARD praying and God simply looking at you like, “Ummm get it together. What you concerned about more, the tangible or the ONE that can provide the tangible and intangible?” As I go through the Living Purpose class, this all has come to mind as far myself and my friends. I was suddenly reminded of a Lil’ Son Chronicle I wrote back in 2009. See below…

“What are you running from? It is amazing how we try to make ourselves so important. But my thing is, why? Who are you trying to impress? Now don’t get me wrong, I like to look good and get a few accolades like the next person. But is that all you got going for yourself? What about your internal appearance? Sure you help others and put on the outward appearance that it’s all good. But is your outward appearance a by-product of a healthy internal appearance or just a mask?”

THOUGHT: We do a lot work for others and ourselves; but when do you accept the invitation to God’s Work? Why do so much for others and neglect the true you, the temple? You do realize that with all your good deeds; if it’s not under the subjection of God (God’s Will), it is dead. Take the time to hear from God. He is calling you to the best job, opportunity, organization ever. It’s called Kingdom Business… (Yeah, u like it… don’t front lol… naw I’m messing). Submit unto God so the true potential can be revealed. Then and only then can you really experience all that God has called.
